Periodontal Disease75% of adults over the age of 35 have some form of periodontal (gum) disease. Because this disease begins silently it can be undetected in its initial stage. Once symptoms emerge, such as bad breath, bleeding gums, soreness in the mouth, receding gums, these problems are often assumed to be temporary, allowing the disease to progress further.

Periodontal disease is the number one cause of adult tooth loss in the country. Research has linked gum disease with heart disease, diabetes, stroke, preterm low-birth weight babies, and memory loss. Gum disease will not improve without treatment.
