Welcome to Hanover Dental!
We are always accepting new patients and we are so excited that you chose us! At Hanover Dental, we work with you to find and understand your oral health needs and how we can work together to create a treatment plan that addresses these concerns. We focus on educating our patients on preventive strategies for their oral health as they go through life. Your oral health affects every part of your body from your brain, to your lungs, to your heart, so we place emphasis on educating patients about complete body wellness.
Your First Visit
Upon arrival, our friendly administrative team will welcome you to our office and review our dental and medical history form to complete. If you wish to complete these forms ahead of time you can print the form here [PDF]. We request that you also bring your insurance coverage booklet for both your primary and secondary insurance carriers. This enables us to process your treatment costs with your insurance.
Your dental hygienist will work with you to determine if there are any immediate areas of concern and will explain how we can work alongside the dentist to address your needs. We want to find out what you want from your dental care and what your main concerns are. The safety of our patients is something that we take very seriously, so your hygienist may ask more in-depth questions in regards to your completed medical forms, to make sure we are giving you the safest and best care possible.
Your hygienist’s diagnostic portion of the exam will include, capturing radiographic images, digital images, an oral cancer screening, bite assessment, and a thorough gum assessment measuring all gum pockets. Your dental hygienist will then explain their findings and show you all areas of concern on your x-rays.
Your hygienist will then invite your dentist to perform their portion of the dental exam, which looks for decay/cavities, infection, broken teeth, wear on teeth, teeth positioning, signs of cancer, suspicious growths/lesions, and gum health. The dentist will examine all your diagnostic images, and combine that with their clinical exam to create a treatment plan best suited to your oral health needs.
Your dentist will discuss their findings with you, as well as options for the recommended treatment for each condition. Our dentists reserve this time specifically to meet with you, and discuss your concerns so please feel free to discuss any areas of concern with your dentist at this time. We all want to make the experience as comfortable for you as possible, and if you let us know your concerns, we can work with you to address them.
After your exam you will have time to meet with our treatment coordinator, who will be able to further discuss the care plan created for you, as well as answer any financial questions that you may have.
How Long Will My Comprehensive Oral Exam Take?
The appointment takes approximately 90 minutes. This allows enough time for the dental team to completely assess all of your concerns, and to create a treatment plan based on your individual needs. If you have further questions or concerns, please contact us. We look forward to meeting you!
